Principal’s Message

Welcome to our Holy Family High School website. I know you will enjoy what you see. Holy Family High School prides itself of its friendly atmosphere, where inclusiveness is the norm and students’ joy is infectious.

The young women at Holy Family respect and encourage each other to be the best they can be, building a community of excellence. Students at Holy Family graduate as leaders, resourceful and strong-willed, yet sympathetic and service oriented, always looking for ways they can make the world a better place. The goal of Holy Family High School is to nurture a girl's voice to be confident and powerful, coupled with insight and sensitivity. We have a rich tradition, built upon the foundation of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, coupled with our mission of providing challenging educational programs that prepare young women to take their place in society as pillars of their community in strength, knowledge, service, and faith.

Choosing a high school that is right for you and your family is a decision that lasts a lifetime. We want our students to feel that Holy Family High School is a place they will belong to for life. The four years spent on campus is a beginning of a life-changing journey that will lead to an alumnae base of over 5000 women who are well connected in the Southern California community, representing 68 years of Holy Family graduates. Holy Family alumnae have gone on to be successful in the medical and legal professions, as well as journalism, broadcasting, business, and education. The rigorous, college preparatory curriculum offered at Holy Family opens many doors to graduates as 100% pursue advanced degrees at colleges such as UCLA, USC, Berkeley, Loyola Marymount, Mount Saint Mary's, Pepperdine, Stanford, and Harvard.

Making a decision to attend an all girl school is one that will ensure your daughter the opportunity structures to surmount stratification in the larger social arena, building a sense of confidence, independence, and verbal assertiveness. Research conclusively shows that graduates of all-girl schools are twice as likely as girls in coeducational schools to pursue careers in the medical field, keep their career aspirations after high school, appear in the Who's Who of American Women, and pursue Ph.D.'s in various disciplines. Girls in single-sex high schools choose more upper division math, science and technology classes, achieve higher academic grades, develop stronger self-concepts, foster stronger relationships with faculty, and remain more focused students. At HFHS, girls are first class citizens, empowered to achieve in all arenas. Being a Gael will ensure long-range success for females both in higher education and the workplace.

Holy Family High School provides young women with an environment where girls are players, not spectators, developing young women who will change the face of the future. Holy Family High School has been distinguished with a number of awards due to its academic rigor, community outreach, and rich co-curricular offerings. We are recognized with distinction by the National Catholic Honor Roll as one of the top two Catholic schools in California and one of the top 50 in the nation for Catholicity, academic excellence, and community involvement. We are also proud of being voted “Best Private School” in Glendale for the past six years and receiving the CIF Good Sportsmanship Award. Holy Family achieved the highest level of accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Educational Association, proving once again that Holy Family High School sets high standards and achieves them. This is the expectation we have of our girls.

The student body at HFHS celebrates its diversity, as well as cherishing the individuality of each of its students. Girls attending Holy Family High School are chosen from 50 different feeder schools and represent a variety of cultural backgrounds, enriching the experience of every student. Our Scholarship Endowment Fund is maintained at over $1,000,000 so that Holy Family may offer scholarships to highly qualified students who are in need of financial assistance in order to attend. Academic rigor is balanced with a strong athletics program, a vibrant visual and performing arts department, an inspiring Christian service program, and a dynamic student body.

Holy Family would like to invite you to tour our campus. We have just renovated and updated both of our computer labs, completed the flooring project in both of our buildings, created a new and more spacious college center, installed new blinds in all classrooms and offices, and surrounded both building exteriors with new purple and gold awnings. Our Science/Health Care Academy continues to grow as our partnership with Glendale Memorial flourishes and we educate our girls to be competitive in the medical field. The science department has already been successful in bringing solar power to one of our buildings, attracting a great deal of attention to the work being done to advance the study of science for girls at Holy Family High School. The English department's bridge program with Glendale College enables students to complete college level English classes while at Holy Family, placing them ahead of other students upon admission to university. To find out all of the other great things Holy Family has to offer, please contact Ms. Dianna Fowler, our Director of Admissions. She will be delighted to meet with you, set up a tour of our campus, and answer any questions you might have about our school.

If you're looking for quality and excellence in education, as well as a place where your daughter will laugh with others as she celebrates her own success and the accomplishments of others, you've found the right place. Come to Holy Family High School - where women make history!

Yours in Christ,
